Named the 1994 Intercollegiate Soccer Association of America National Player of the Year for Division III in 1994, Nicelli lettered four years (1991-94) for the men’s soccer team. He was chosen to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Mid-Atlantic, the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) and the College Soccer Association of New Jersey All-State first teams.
 
He started at forward his last season but also played as a midfielder and back. Nicell was second in scoring with 11 goals and eight assists for 30 points. In 80 career games, he amassed 65 points with 25 goals and 15 assists. The team compiled a 68-11-7 record in his four years, reached the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament all four seasons and won the NJAC Championship three times (1991-92-93).
 
Nicell received his bachelor’s in business in 1996.. He came to the University from Portmarnock, Ireland where he graduated from Portmarnock Community School in 1989.
