Greg Ackles was a two-time All-American for the Profs’ basketball team, receiving the honors in 1976 and 1977, while also being named the New Jersey State Athletic Conference Player of the Year for three consecutive seasons.

Ackles was a three-time selection to the All-Conference, All-ECAC and All-Area Teams and was chosen the South Jersey Small College Player of the Year in 1977.

At the time of his induction, he ranked sixth on the school’s all-time scoring list with 1,390 career points and remains the Profs’ all-time leader in steals with 140.

Ackles graduated from Glassboro State in 1977 and received a master’s degree from Trenton State in 1979 before serving as the Profs’ head coach for six seasons, from 1984 to 1989. A member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, he received the organization’s Citizen of the Year award in 1986.
