Linda Vaughan Sylvester was an All-American in track and owns the distinction of being the first female runner at Rowan to qualify for the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
 
Vaughan Sylvester, who competed from 1988 to 1990, earned All-American honors in the 1,500 meters and the 3,000 meters at the 1990 NCAA Outdoor Track Championships, and upon graduation, held nine school records in distance events. Between cross country and track, she earned All-Conference honors in both sports a total of nine times.
 
A two-time selection to the All-Mideast Region Team, she was the 1990 New Jersey Collegiate State cross country champion and went on to participate in the NCAA Championships that same year.

She graduated in 1991 graduate with a degree in health and physical education and went on to a career in teaching.
