Smith College

A quarterback, McLaughlin was a three-year starter during his four-year career. He was a member of the 1972 and 1974 conference championship teams and was selected to the All-Conference first team each year. In 1974, McLaughlin was the team’s captain, the MVP and received Little All-America honorable mention. He held the school passing records for attempts, completions, yards, touchdowns and total offense in a game, season and career.
 
McLaughlin graduated with a bachelor’s in health and physical education. He was a member of the University’s Brown and Gold Gridiron Club, a member of the board of governors and a past secretary/treasurer.
