Pearl Kowalski served Glassboro State for 19 years as a coach and administrator.
 
She was the head coach of the field hockey team for seven seasons, from 1979 to 1985 and the basketball team for 12 years, from 1967 to 1979. Additionally, Kowalski served as the women’s athletic director from 1979 to 1986.
 
Her 1979 field hockey squad finished fourth in the nation and her 1980 team captured the NJAIAW title. In 1982 and 1985, the Profs received bids to the NCAA Tournament, while Kowalski recorded 78 career victories.
 
A member of several professional associations for health and physical education, Kowalski received a Professional Honor Award in 1985 from the Eastern District Association of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD). Kowalski initiated the South Jersey Coaches of Women Sports and was inducted into the Halls of Fame for both Gloucester County and East Stroudsburg University.
