Smith earned All-American honors in lacrosse and field hockey. In 1994 and 1995, she was named to the United States Women’s Lacrosse Association and the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association All-America first teams. An attack, she finished her lacrosse career with 311 points (165 goals, 146 assists) which was first in all-time scoring at the time of her induction. She was also the school’s all-time assist leader with 146. In 1995, Smith was the lacrosse team’s leading scorer with 87 points (39 goals, 48 assists).

A midfielder, she led the field hockey team in scoring with 23 points (nine goals, five assists) her last season. Smith was selected to the All-America third team for field hockey. Her junior year, she was first on the lacrosse team with 114 points (60 goals, 54 assists). In field hockey, Smith finished her career with 17 goals and 27 assists. She earned her degree in law and justice. She graduated from Cherokee High School in 1988.
