The 1993 softball team reached the NCAA Finals and laid the foundation for the strong tradition of Rowan softball, which has made eight more trips to the Finals since then.

In just her second season at the helm, head coach Kim Franchi guided the young squad to a 35-14 record, which stood as the school record for victories until 1998. The Profs went 9-1 in the NJAC and despite losing in the conference tournament, would go on to defeat Montclair State and capture the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional title.

The Profs traveled to Decatur, IL, for the Finals and defeated Laverne, but suffered two one-run losses to Illinois Benedictine to finish the year tied as fourth in the nation.

Rowan received numerous individual accolades as Outfielder Melissa Comparri and shortstop Joy Pittner were Rowan's first All-Americans with their selections to the second and third team, respectively. Nicole Staiano was the NJAC Co-Player of the Year and was joined on the All-Conference Team by Comparri, Pittner and Amy Mund, with Franchi earning Coach of the Year honors.
