Frank Albano was the school’s first student-athlete to be named to the Academic All-America team, as he earned first-team honors, while also earning All-America First Team recognition by the baseball coaches’ association in 1978 and 1979.
The shortstop, who earned All-NJSAC First Team honors twice, played on both of Glassboro State’s National Championship teams in 1978 and 1979, and captained both of those teams.
He received his bachelor’s degree from GSC in 1979 and went on to earn two master’s degrees from Kean, before embarking on a teaching career in the Verona (NJ) Public Schools.
