Derick "Ringo" Adamson, a standout for the Profs’ cross country and track & field teams from 1978 to 1982, was an All-American and the 1980 NCAA Division III Champion in the steeplechase.
He earned All-Conference honors for four consecutive years in cross country while also being named the All-State Collegiate Runner of the Year each of those seasons.
Adamson went on to compete for Jamaica in the marathon at the 1984 and 1988 Olympic Games, and was a qualifier for the 1980 Olympics in the steeplechase, although was not added to the team’s roster.
