Charles “Chick” Cowell was the first three-sport letterman in school history, playing football, basketball and baseball.

Cowell earned four letters in baseball and was the Profs’ captain his senior year. He owns the distinction of being the winning pitcher in Glassboro State's first-ever victory over rival Trenton State during his freshman season.

He played just one season of football in 1950 (as the program was dropped after that year), and then averaged 17 points per game in his senior year on the basketball team.

A 1953 graduate with a degree in education, Cowell served as the president of the college’s Men’s Athletic Association.
