Smith College

Thompson played three years of field hockey and two years of lacrosse at the University. In field hockey, she was named to the All-College and New Atlantic first teams three straight years (1970-72). Thompson was selected for the U.S. trials in 1972 and played for the squad from 1973-75. In lacrosse, she was selected to the All-College second team two seasons (1970-71). Thompson was chosen for the U.S. trials in 1975 and 1976.
