Jack Collins was a 1,000-point scorer in basketball and returned to Glassboro State to serve as head coach.

He coached for eight seasons, from 1970 to 1977, and led the Profs to three straight NCAA Tournament appearances, which included a second-place national finish in the first year of the tournament in 1975. Collins compiled a 131-81 career record while leading Glassboro State to four NJSAC titles in 1971 (co-champions), 1975, 1976 and 1977.

Collins, a 1964 graduate, scored 1,038 points while averaging double figures in three of four seasons, with a high of 18.6 points per game in 1962-63. He was also a member of the school’s golf team.

After graduation he received his law degree and went on to serve as the Speaker of the General Assembly of New Jersey.
