Thompson competed in track and field from 1990-93. She was a member of the winning 4x400 meter relay at the 1990 New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championships. Thompson was also on the 4x400 team that ran a school record 4:06 at the Penn Relays to qualify for the national championships. She was part of the first place 4x100 (49.9) and 4x400 (4:03.3) meter relays at the 1991 NJAC Championships. In 1992, Thompson ran on the 4x400 meter relay that broke the University mark with a time of 3:53.89 to finish sixth at the NCAA Division III Championships for All-America honors. She was the 1993 NJAC champion in the 400 meters (59.40) and an All-American in the 400 meter hurdles, placing third (1:02.75) at the national championships.
Thompson graduated in 1994. She is a 1989 graduate of Oakcrest High School and was inducted into its Wall of Fame in 2010.
