Dawn Shilling Bunting lettered in two sports and then went on to a successful coaching career at her alma mater, serving as head coach of the basketball and softball teams.
 
The Profs’ head women's basketball coach from 1986 to 1993, she compiled a 123-83 record in eight years and led Rowan to the NJAC Championship in 1992 and two NCAA Tournament appearances (1992, 1993). Those teams each posted 23-5 records and were named the New Jersey Collegiate Basketball Coaches Association (NJBCA) Team of the Year in consecutive seasons. Bunting was named the Converse District II Coach of the Year in 1988 and was cited as the NJCBA Coach of the Year in 1988 and 1989.
 
In six years as head softball coach at Rowan, Bunting’s teams compiled a 153-78 record. In her final season, the Profs went 23-12 and were the ECAC South Region champions. In 1990, she guided the Profs to the first NJAC title in the program's history, while leading Rowan to four straight NCAA Regional appearances, from 1987 to 1990.

The 1979 graduate was a four-year member of the Profs' basketball and softball teams and earned All- ECAC First Team honors in softball, while also serving as the team co-captain.
