Murphy was the first woman’s basketball player to score 1,000 career points. She played for four years and compiled 1,013 points and ranked fifth on the all-time scoring list at the time of her induction. Murphy was the basketball team’s captain for two seasons. She also lettered in lacrosse for three years.
               
In 1975, Murphy earned her bachelor degree in special education.
