Rowan University - Glassboro State College Hall of Fame
A forward, McGroarty started four years for the soccer team. He finished his career with 42 goals and 23 assists for 107 points. McGroarty was third among all-time leading goal scorers and fifth in total points at the time of his induction. His senior year, McGroarty led the team in scoring with 34 points, 13 goals and eight assists. He was the team’s captain and MVP.

McGroarty was selected to the All-Conference, All-State and All-Region teams his junior and senior years. In 1988, he was named to the All-America first team and chosen the New Jersey Athletic Conference’s Player of the Year and the South Jersey Soccer Coaches Association Player of the Year. The Profs had a 70-12-6 won-lost record during his career and went to the NCAA Championship Tournament all four years. In 1985, Rowan finished third at the national tournament.

McGroarty graduated in 1992 with a business degree and earned a bachelor’s in health and physical education in 1994. He was selected to the Cherry Hill West Athletic Hall of Fame in 1999 and the South Jersey Soccer Hall of Fame in 2000.
