Rowan University - Glassboro State College Hall of Fame
The 1998 Rowan field hockey team was the first in the program's history to reach the NCAA Semifinals, a feat which has now been accomplished a total of six times.
The Profs compiled an 18-3 record in head coach Penny Kempf's first season, which stands as the fourth-best winning percentage in and went undefeated in conference play to capture the program's first NJAC Championship.
Rowan earned the right to host the NCAA Tournament and went on to defeat Tufts in overtime and Gettysburg to advance to the Final Four. The Profs saw the season come to an end with a loss to William Smith in the finals, but that success and experience would lay the groundwork for the future. It marked the first of six consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances and just three years later, Rowan captured the 2002 national championship.
A host of Profs earned All-Conference honors — Stephanie Andre, Erin Grelle, Moriah Holmstrom, Joleen Jaworski, Sheena Marston and Dana Reynolds — while Holmstrom was the NJAC's Midfielder of the Year.
