Oscar Moore started the men’s track & field program in 1971 and led the Profs to five national team titles from 1980 to 1984. The coach also produced over 130 All-Americans and 21 individual national champions during his tenure that lasted until 1993.
Moore’s Profs won 19 consecutive New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championships and competed at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships for 20 years in a row, where they won the five national titles, and were the runners-up in 1978 and 1979. Moore, who was the Division III Coach of the Year five times (1980 to 1984) had five of his athletes qualify for the Division I Championships over the years, with javelin thrower Mike Juskus winning the NCAA crown in 1981.
He was also the head coach of the women’s track & field team for seven years, beginning in 1986. Moore led the Profs to their first NJAC outdoor title in 1992 and guided 17 athletes to All-America honors and four who earned All-East recognition.
A six-time All-American and a three-time NCAA champion distance runner while at Southern Illinois University, Moore was an assistant professor in the Glassboro State/Rowan health and exercise department for 33 years, retiring in 2003.
