LYNCHBURG, VA – The Rowan men's soccer team continues its quest for a national title when it faces #6 Emory in the Third Round of the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. The match will be played at Shellenberger Field at the University of Lynchburg. A Profs' victory will send them into the Elite Eight on Sunday at 3 p.m. against the winner of the Dickinson (15-0-7) at #13 Lynchburg (19-1-2) match, which takes place at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

ROWAN GAME NOTES
• Rowan (17-3-4) is riding an eight-game winning streak and has gone without a loss in 12 consecutive matches, with the last defeat coming on Oct. 4 to Rutgers-Camden (4-3). The Profs have received votes in the United Soccer Coaches Poll for the past two weeks after being in the Top 25 for the majority of the season.
•
Scott Baker is in his 12th season at Rowan, having led the Profs to eight NCAA Tournament appearances and three NJAC Championships, capturing three in the past four years. His record at Rowan is currently 147-56-28 and the 1993 alum was a member of Rowan's 1990 NCAA Champion team.
• Rowan earned an NCAA automatic bid by winning the NJAC for the second year in a row. The Profs traveled to Wesleyan (CT) and defeated Bridgewater State, 1-0, in the First Round behind a goal from
Johnny Troiano.
Carill Asanji and Troiano netted goals in the 2-0 victory over #11 Wesleyan that propelled Rowan into the Sectionals, and the "Sweet 16" for the second time with
Scott Baker at the helm.
• This marks Rowan's 32nd all-time appearance in the NCAA Championship, where it owns a 39-28-4 all-time record. Rowan won the national titles in 1981 and 1990 and has reached the championship game four times, with six appearances in the national semifinals. The Profs are making their eighth NCAA trip under head coach
Scott Baker and their fourth appearance in the last five years, while reaching the "Sweet 16" for the first time since 2019.
• Rowan went 5-2-2 in conference play and earned the regular-season title for the second year in a row. The Profs then won their second consecutive NJAC title by defeating TCNJ, 1-0, in the championship match at home. Rowan has played in six consecutive NJAC Championship matches, which is the longest streak in conference history.
• The Profs' 17 victories are tied as the most for a
Scott Baker-coached team as his 2016 team went 17-3-1 and the 2017 squad was 17-4-1.
• The Profs reached a high of #2 in the United Soccer Coaches Association Top 25 this year, on Sept. 9 and Sept. 16 after they started the year 5-0-1. It was the highest spot in the Top 25 for the Profs since October 10, 2002 when Rowan was #1 in the nation. Profs were also ranked #2 early on in the 2001 and 2002 seasons. For the week of Sept. 9, Rowan was the top-ranked team in the nation according to the Massey Ratings.
• The Profs are 4-0-1 against Top 25 teams this season, with the lone tie coming on Oct. 18 against conference rival, #20 Montclair State.
• Johnny Troiano is closing out his career as one of the top scorers in Rowan history. The senior leads the NJAC in scoring with a career-high 19 goals and 43 points. He currently ranks fourth in Prof history in career points (131) and is third in career goals (55). The two-time NJAC Offensive Player of the Year has recorded five multiple-goal games on the season, including two hat tricks, while owning six game-winning goals. Troiano earned selection to the All-America Third Team in 2024 and was chosen to the CSC Academic All-America First Team.
• Rowan took home two of the top NJAC awards with
Johnny Troiano becoming the first Prof to earn the NJAC Offensive Player of the Year award twice.
Ryan Cleary was named the Defensive Player of the Year, with both players being joined on the All-NJAC First Team by
Evan Schlotterbeck and
Greg Ferreira.
Davide Caputo,
Jake Homowitz and
Luke McNamee earned Second-Team honors. Schlotterbeck, Ferreira and McNamee earned All-NJAC selections for the first time.
• The Profs had a few first-year players who made an impact as transfers -
Evan Schlotterbeck (Muhlenberg),
Luke McNamee (Monmouth)
Christian McGillen (La Salle), and
Travis Holiday (Millersville). Schlotterbeck had four goals and two gamewinners (vs. Stockton, TCNJ) and earned All-NJAC First Team honors. McNamee received All-Conference Honorable Mention as he tied for the team lead with eight assists, while scoring one goal. McGillen was the team's third leading scorer with six goals and two assists, while also notching three game-winning goals (vs. Cortland, Arcadia, Stockton).
• Senior transfer
Travis Holiday has been solid in goal for the Profs in his first year, starting the last 10 matches in which Rowan is 9-0-1 and has outscored its opponents, 17-4. He owns seven shutouts overall with five consecutive in the postseason matches (NJAC, NCAA). The last time a team scored on Holiday was on Oct. 29 when TCNJ converted a penalty kick. His goals against average on the season is 0.64 in 16 matches.
