This installment of "Know Your Profs" features senior Emily August from the softball team. She pitched in four games before the 2020 season ended because of COVID-19.  August has a career 3.13 earned run average in 22.1 innings and 26 strikeouts.  A Rowan Scholar-Athlete of Distinction, she was inducted into the Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society and received New Jersey Athletic Conference All-Academic honorable mention.
 
What was the biggest factor that led you to choose Rowan?
The biggest factor that led me to choose Rowan was the outstanding education program as well as being able to continue to play softball. 
 
What is your most memorable moment in sports, whether at Rowan or before? 
My most memorable moment in sports at Rowan was the opportunity to go to Oklahoma for the Division III National Championship and play in the stadium. 
 
If you could play any other sport in college, what would it be and why? 
If I played a different sport in college I would play soccer because I played it until I got into high school and always loved it. I just did not have the time to continue playing. 
 
Who was your biggest role model growing up? 
My parents have always been my biggest role models. They always work so hard and I aspire to be as successful as them.
            
If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go and why?
If I could travel anywhere I would travel to Greece because there is a perfect mix of beautiful beaches, exotic land and amazing food.
 
What's your choice – Netflix, YouTube, Cable TV? Favorite show? 
I love to watch Netflix. My favorite show is Grey's Anatomy. 
 
Who is your favorite professional athlete or team? 
In the softball world Jennie Finch is a well-known athlete. She has always been my favorite athlete because she is admirable on and off the field. 
 
Who is your favorite follow on social media? 
My favorite follow on social media is obviously @rowanusoftball!
 
Which do you prefer – online classes or in person? 
I prefer classes in person because I enjoy the walk to class everyday and I enjoy being able to see everyone. 
 
What is your major at Rowan and what are your career aspirations? 
I am an Elementary Education and Math major. My plan is to become a teacher, preferably third grade and above.
 
What's the best thing about being a Prof? 
I love that Rowan is a moderately big school, but it is a family like environment. Everyone somehow is connected through friends of friends.
