GALLOWAY, NJ -- #15 Rowan fell in both games of a NJAC doubleheader at #19 Stockton on Wednesday, 7-2, and 4-2.
Game one
Aly Reim and
Zara MacNair each had RBI hits but the Ospreys took advantage of three Prof errors in the sixth to plate five runs, breaking a 2-2 game.
After Stockton crossed two runs in the first, Rowan answered in the fifth.
Abigail Pawlowski led off the frame with a double and came home to score in Reim's base hit. Reim was lifted for pinch runner
Gia DiMeglio who scored on MacNair's two-out double.
Starter
BethAnne Doderer (9-2) pitched into the sixth before Stockton loaded the bases on its first three batters of the inning. Doderer yielded three earned runs on eight hits with 3 K's and no walks in the decision, giving her the first loss in eight starts.
Game two
Errors were a factor again in game two as Stockton broke another 2-2 tie with two unearned runs in the fifth.
Ava Fisher knocked in
Mikayla Dansky in the first and
Kate Evick's sac fly in the fifth to plate
Zoey Rogers accounted for the Prof scoring.
Emily McCutcheon fell to 7-5 on the year, allowing four runs (two earned) on five hits with a strikeout and a walk. Rogers and Pawlowski each added a double at the plate.
Rowan would eventually load the bags after Fisher's RBI single in its first at-bat, but could not add to the lead.
An RBI groundout and a run-scoring base hit in the third put the home team back on top.
Rogers, who led off the fifth with a double, would eventually score on Evick's sacrifice fly.
Two errors to start the bottom of the fifth put runners on for Stockton in scoring position. A safety squeeze followed by a groundout was enough to push two runs across for a two-run edge.
Rowan will look to rebound on Friday as the team visits Kean in a NJAC doubleheader on Friday beginning at 1 p.m.
