JERSEY CITY, NJ – Offense was the theme of the day as #23 Rowan defeated New Jersey City, 19-0 and 12-0. The team totaled 31 hits in the New Jersey Athletic Conference twinbill on Saturday.
Game one
The Profs exploded for 12 runs in the sixth inning while totaling 21 hits in the contest as the game was ended after the sixth.
Emma Dobkin paced the offense, going 4-for-4 with three runs and five RBI's including a two-run home run in the first inning.
Kate Evick drove in three runs and
Mikayla Dansky scored three times, stole two bases, and walked.
BethAnne Doderer (12-2) threw four scoreless innings to nab the win, allowing just two hits while fanning six batters.
Madison Cooley wrapped up the final two innings.
Rowan used 12 hits and a walk to open it up in the sixth. Evick, Dobkin, and
Jodi McGuigan each had two-run hits in the frame.
Game two
Dansky and
Carly Polsky each went deep while Dobkin and Evick doubled twice respectively as the offense kept clicking in the second game.
Zara MacNair was 3-for-3 as nine of the team's 15 hits went for extra bases.
Dansky led off the game with a shot to left for a 1-0 lead. Five batters later with Dobkin on second, Polsky hit one out to give Rowan a four spot in the first inning.
Zoey Rogers' two-run double highlighted the second. Polsky struck again for a two-run double as part of a four-run fourth.
Emily McCutcheon (10-5) allowed just three hits added three K's over the first three innings Dobkin came on in the fourth and went the final two frames before the game concluded after the fifth to help cement the doubleheader sweep.
The Profs will travel to Rutgers-Camden on Tuesday for two against the Scarlet Raptors in Camden. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
