Know Your Profs: Jake Logar

Sophomore Jake Logar of the men's soccer team is the featured student-athlete for "Know Your Profs". Logar, who played in 16 matches last season, scored his lone goal of the year in the NCAA Tournament as Rowan reached the "Sweet 16". He comes from a long line of family members who have suited up for the Profs and was a teammate last season with his brother, Ryan, a 2000 graduate, while their father, Andy, was an All-American in 1991.

What was the biggest factor that led you to choose Rowan?
There are two factors that led me to choose Rowan – the academics and the soccer team.  As a Biomedical Engineering major, one huge factor when I was looking for schools was a great engineering program and Rowan has a very prestigious and growing program.  As well as knowing this information, I was brought on a tour to the new Engineering building and the Biomedical Engineering floor in specific and was immediately intrigued by everything that I saw.

Growing up I watched both of my brothers play for the Rowan Men's Soccer Team and I witnessed many talented players that had both great chemistry and a desire to win the game.  The soccer team is only growing and getting stronger which will hopefully achieve something special.  Being a school with both great academics and a great soccer team made it clear that Rowan was the school for me.

What is your most memorable moment in sports, whether at Rowan or before?
My most memorable moment in sports is when my high school soccer team won the state championship my senior year.  This is something I watched my brother achieve twice and that I've always wanted to win myself.  We came close both my sophomore and junior years losing in the state semi-finals both years.  Although I ended up tearing my ACL in this final high school game, the feeling when that last whistle sounded is something I never want to forget and something I hopefully feel again in the near future.

If you could play any other sport in college, what would it be and why?
If I could play any other sport it would be basketball because it is a sport I can go and play pick up with my friends inside or outside and all you need is a ball and a hoop.  I enjoy sitting there and shooting a basketball hundreds of times rather than training for any other sport by myself.

Who was your biggest role model growing up?
My biggest role model when growing up was a soccer player by the name of Ronaldinho. He was one of the best soccer players in the world at that time and he didn't come from much. He was on one of the best soccer teams and was respected by everyone who he matched up against and I always wished that I could be in that position where the world was just in awe while they watched me play.

If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go and why?
If I could travel anywhere in the world, I would backpack across Europe witnessing the different cultures and seeing famous sites in each country.  I would go to countries like Spain, Germany, Italy, England where I could get away from everything and enjoy the world.  I've always wanted to do this and make memories with my friends and family.

What's your choice – Netflix, YouTube, Cable TV? Favorite show?
The only time I watch TV is when sports is on.  It's usually either football on Sundays or when Liverpool, the Philadelphia Union or a good soccer game is on.

Who is your favorite professional athlete or team?
Liverpool (Premier League soccer team)

Who is your favorite follow on social media?
My favorite follow is brfootball on Instagram because it gives me all news and highlights that occur in the world of soccer.  Anything important that happens with big players or big teams is posted on their page.

Which do you prefer – online classes or in person?
I prefer in person classes because I am more engaged and don't feel lazy as I do now when I'm sitting next to my bed all day long.

What is your major at Rowan and what are your career aspirations?
My major is Biomedical Engineering and I hope to either work with prosthetics or paraplegia when I am older.

What's the best thing about being a Prof?
The best thing about being a Prof is that there are so many opportunities provided by the university to go and meet new people or to just go and have fun with your friends.
