SAN DIEGO, CA – The Rowan University women's outdoor track & field team finished in fifth place out of 14 teams at the Point Loma Nazarene University Invitational on Saturday.
The Profs totaled 230 points over 19 events. The 2019 indoor National Champions Williams College won the meet with 246 points.
Kari DiTonno (jr. Livingston, NJ/Livingston) was first in the 400 meter hurdles in 1:05.64.
Dani Nicklas (jr. Bellmawr, NJ/Audubon) took fifth with a time of 1:07.44, while
Dajai McClellan (jr. Sicklerville, NJ/Highland Reg.) placed eighth (1:16.32) and
Ashley Edwards (fr. Parlin, NJ/Sayreville War Mem.) was ninth (1:17.25). Edwards also participated in the triple jump and finished eighth with a leap of 34' 9" (10.59 m).
In the hammer throw,
Olivia Scattergood (so. Kendall Park, NJ/South Brunswick) claimed second with a toss of 132' 4" (40.34 m).
Carrie Wunder (jr. Cape May, NJ/Lower Cape May Reg.) was ninth (119' 4", 36.37 m) and
Chelsea Smith (fr. Gibbstown, NJ/Paulsboro) came in 12th (112' 10, 34.39 m). Smith competed in the discus earning third with a distance of 127' 1" (38.74 m).
Makayla Taylor (fr. Randolph, NJ/Randolph) placed second in the shot put with a distance of 38' 4.75" (11.70 m).
Morgan Carr (fr. Hardyston, NJ/Wallkill Valley Reg.) was seventh in the javelin, as she recorded a throw of 111' 3" (33.90 m).
Myiah Sturdivant (so. Sicklerville, NJ/Timber Creek Reg.) finished second in the 400 meters, crossing the finish line in 58.03. Nicklas followed in sixth (59.09) and
Melina Johnson (jr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) was ninth (1:00.02). Johnson also ran in the 200 meters and took sixth in 25.96.
Michelle Macauley (sr. Somerset, NJ/Franklin Twp.) had a solid outing in the long jump, leaping 18' 5.75" (5.63 m), which was good for second place.
In the 100 meter hurdles,
Aspen McMillan (sr. Kendall Park, NJ/South Brunswick) claimed third in 14.42, while
Darielle Cross (jr. Cliffwood, NJ/Matawan Reg.) followed in fourth (14.74).
Alyssa Sanders (so. Pitman, NJ/Pitman) competed in the 800 meters and earned seventh with a time of 2:21.25.
Hannah Vendetta (sr. Pitman, NJ/Pitman) came in 11th (2:22.59) and
Dianne Ferraro (so. South Plainfield, NJ/South Plainfield) was 16th (2:25.64).
Aaniyah Robinson (so. Totowa, NJ/Passaic County Tech.) and Cross ran in the 100 meter dash, finishing sixth (12.49) and seventh (12.59) respectively. In the 5000 meters,
Brianna De la Cruz (so. Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) took eighth with a time of 20:37.01.
The 4x100 meter relay team of
Sidney McLeod-Whitener (so. Philadelphia, PA/Friends' Central School), McMillan, Robinson and Cross placed fourth in 48.65.
Johnson, Sturdivant, Nicklas and DiTonno were the members of the 4x400 meter relay that claimed fourth recording a time of 4:02.31.
The women's outdoor track & field team heads back east for the Danny Curran Invitational at Widener University on Friday-Saturday, March 29-30, with the first day starting at 3 p.m. and the second at 10:00 a.m.
