The Profs are 1-2 overall while the Lightning has a 0-3 record. Midfielder Essosa Aluyi (so. Nagoya, Japan/Elmont Mem.) scored Lehman's goal and midfielder/back Brian Amaya (jr. Yonkers, NY/Saunders) had the assist. Rowan compiled 25 shots while Lehman had two. For the Lightning, goalkeeper Jesus Marin (so. East Harlem, NY/Manhattan Village Academy) stopped nine shots.
Kevin Vasta (sr. Randolph, NJ/Randolph),
Andrew McNellis (jr. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) and
Graeham Gotrell (jr. Hackensack, NJ/Hackensack) shared the Profs' goaltending duties.
Rowan had a 3-0 advantage after the first half. Conners started the scoring at 25:15 when he dribbled around Marin and hit the right side of the net. Wood kicked in a throw-in by Guyer eight minutes later. Vargas registered the third goal (36:26) when he tapped in the ball that was crossed by Hoagland.
In the second period, Marin saved a shot by Fountain and Patterson knocked in the rebound (54:00). Ward's goal came on a penalty kick at 59:10. Kaya had an unassisted goal (64:19) and Vargas scored his second (65:44) on a feed up the middle from Macfarlane. Aluyi spoiled the shutout at 74:32. He headed in a free kick by Amaya.
Rowan has a rescheduled game at home against Swarthmore College on Monday, September 8 at 7 p.m. The contest was postponed on Saturday, September 6 due to the weather.
