BRONX, NY – The Rowan University women’s cross country team took first place at the Fordham Fiasco on Saturday.  The Profs finished with 47 points among the 12 Division II and III schools.  The 5K race was held at Van Cortlandt Park.

For the second straight week, Danielle Czohla (sr. Lafayette, NJ/High Point Reg.) was the individual champion.  She ran a winning time of 19:19.61.  Meghan Borz (jr. Buena, NJ/Buena Reg.) came in fourth in 19:44.22.  Deana Wood (fr. Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Reg) finished 12th (20:38.04) while Joy Hanke (sr. Cranford, NJ/Cranford) and Samantha Stapleton (jr. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) were 15th (21:00.34) and 18th (21:09.26) respectively.

Catherine Nolan (so. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Holy Spirit) was 29th (21:27.63) followed by Vanessa Valdes (fr. Hackensack, NJ/Hackensack) 32nd (21:35.35).  Priscila Antuna (jr. Waretown, NJ/Southern Reg.) had a 48th place (21:57.90) and Brenda Mendez (so. Glassboro, NJ/Delsea Reg.) was 50th (22:01.41).  Christina Ricci (fr. Spotswood, NJ/Spotswood) finished 61st (22:22.60).  Angelina Bongiovanni (so. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Holy Spirit) and Onyi Obelle (fr. Hackensack, NJ/Hackensack) were 70th (22:39.82) and 71st (22:41.37) respectively.  Lisa Leszcynski (fr. Trenton, NJ/Robbinsville) came in 78th (22:57.74) followed by Kristen Abitante (fr. Upper Saddle River, NJ/Northern Highlands Reg.) 79th (22:58.74).

Next Saturday, Rowan will run at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational in North Dartmouth, MA.
