Wernik Earns Philly-SIDA Academic All-Area Women's Cross Country Team Honors

GLASSBORO, NJ -- Ally Wernik has been named to the Philly-SIDA Academic All-Area Women's Cross Country Team for the second-straight season and the third Prof in as many seasons to earn the local honor.

The Philly-SIDA Academic All-Area teams are nominated for, and voted on, by the sports information directors at 30 institutions in the Philadelphia region. Student-athletes must be in at least their second year at their current institution and hold a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.30 or higher to be considered for nomination.

A psychology major, Wernik garnered All-NJAC honors for the second year in a row, placing 14th at the conference championship to help the Profs capture the team championship in consecutive seasons. Wernik was 15th at the NCAA Metro Championship, earning All-Region honors with a 15th-place finish.

Sharing the honor with Wernik includes Jefferson's Annalee Capuano and Hannah Powell, Villanova's Margaret Carroll and Nikki Vanasse, Aubrey Donahue from Immaculata, Kathryn Long from Widener, and Savannah Shaw from Haverford. Donahue was voted the performer of the year.
