TERRE HAUTE, IN – The Rowan University women’s cross country team competed at the NCAA Division III Championships on Saturday. The championship race was held at the LaVern Gibson Course.
Rowan finished 27th in the team scoring out of 32 teams. It was the second straight year that the women’s cross country team was an at-large selection for the national championships. Johns Hopkins University won the team title with 158 points. Wis.-Oshkosh’s Christy Cazzola was the individual champion with a time of 20:53.3.
Danielle Czohla (sr. Lafayette, NJ/High Point Reg.) was the first Prof to cross the finish line. She ran 22:21.1 and came in 52nd out of 277 runners. Meghan Borz (jr. Buena, NJ/Buena Reg.) finished 61st in 22:26.9.
Joy Hanke (sr. Cranford, NJ/Cranford) was 193rd (23:25.0) while Deana Wood (fr. Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Reg.) and Priscila Antuna (jr. Waretown, NJ/Southern Reg.) were 211th (23:33.5) and 262nd (24:23.4) respectively. Gabby Prendergast (jr. Blackwood, NJ/Highland Reg.) took 267th (24:30.5) and Onyi Obelle (fr. Hackensack, NJ/Hackensack) was 272nd (24:34.9).
Last weekend, Rowan took fourth among 39 teams at the NCAA Atlantic Regional in Rochester, NY. This season, the Profs were the New Jersey Athletic Conference Champions for the second straight year.
