ROCHESTER, NY – The Rowan University women’s cross country team finished fourth among 39 teams at the NCAA Atlantic Regional on Saturday. The 6K race was held at Genesee Valley Park.
The Profs totaled 182 points. St. Lawrence University took first place with 49 points, followed by SUNY Geneseo, second, with 135. New York University came in third with 154 points. The top two teams automatically qualify for the NCAA Division III Championships on Saturday, November 17 in Terre Haute, IN. The remainder of the teams must wait until Sunday, November 11 to see if they earn an at-large bid. The NCAA press release will be posted at http://www.ncaa.com.
Danielle Czohla (sr. Lafayette, NJ/High Point Reg.) captured third place overall with a time of 21.58.6. She will participate in next week’s national championships. The top seven individuals, not on qualifying teams, advance to the NCAAs.
Meghan Borz (jr. Buena, NJ/Buena Reg.) was 19th in 22:35.1. Deana Wood (fr. Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Reg.) and Joy Hanke (sr. Cranford, NJ/Cranford) took 40th (23:04.8) and 41st (23:05.1) respectively. Gabby Prendergast (jr. Blackwood, NJ/Highland Reg.) came in 85th (23:57.2). Priscila Antuna (jr. Waretown, NJ/Southern Reg.) was 113th (24:17.2) followed by Onyi Obelle (fr. Hackensack, NJ/Hackensack), 131st (24:34.2).
The NCAA Championships will be run at the LaVern Gibson Course. The men’s race is at 11 a.m. followed by the women’s at noon.
