SANTA CRUZ, CA  – The Rowan University men’s soccer team blanked the University of California Santa Cruz, 4-0 on Saturday evening.

The Profs have a 6-5-2 record while the Banana Slugs are 6-4-1 overall.  All of the scoring came in the first half.  Forward Christian Fountain (so. Fredericksburg, VA/Stafford) recorded the first two goals at 1:44 and 5:44.  His first came off a rebound with a shot to the upper right corner of the net.  The second goal was assisted by midfielders Ryan Gordon (sr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill W.) and Andrew Brawner (sr. Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape).

Midfielder Dylan Smith (jr. Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) tapped the ball inside the right post for the third goal at 8:03.  Back Jared Mangone (sr. Princeton Jct., NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro N.) and Fountain each had an assist.  At 29:13, midfielder Parker Oris (so. Bayville, NY/Central Reg.) produced the final goal with a feed from back Robby Davis (sr. North Wildwood, NJ/Cape May County Technical).

Rowan ended the game with 13 shots while Santa Cruz took 10.  In the Profs’ net, goalkeeper Michael Fanz-Huster (sr. Waterford, NJ/Hammonton) made three saves in 75:44.  Goalie Ryan Gill (jr.West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) played the remainder of the game and stopped two shots.  For the Banana Slugs, goalkeeper David Vivian turned away three shots.
