Cross Country Teams Both Win Team Titles at Salisbury Fall Classic

SALISBURY, MD – The Rowan University men’s and women’s cross country teams both won the team title at the Salisbury University Fall Classic on Saturday. It was the first meet of the season for the Profs.

The men were first with 40 points out of 10 teams while the women had 44 points among 11 schools. Jena Peacock (sr. Williamstown, NJ/Our Lady of Mercy Academy) was the women’s individual winner out of 139 runners. She ran the 5920 meters in 21:19.

Sammar Abueldoleh (fr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) came in third with a time of 22:19. Jenn Rawls (jr. Runnemede, NJ/Highland Reg.) took seventh place (22:54). The fourth and fifth runners to score were Meghan Borz (so. Buena, NJ/Buena Reg.) 14th (23:11) and Joy Hanke (jr. Cranford, NJ/Cranford) 19th (23:21).

Rob Rawls (fr. Runnemede, NJ/Triton Reg.) was the Profs’ first runner to cross the finish line of the 8000 meter course. He took third place with a time of 25:48. Eric DuBois (sr. Pittsgrove, NJ/A.P. Schalick) followed fourth (25:55) and Jake McCormack (sr. Cliffwood, NJ/Matawan Reg.) was fifth (25:55).

Stephen Hoffman (sr. Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City) finished 14th (26:55). Jeff Tauriello (so. Florham Park, NJ/Hanover Park) completed the scoring in 16th place (27:06).

Next Saturday, Rowan travels to the Fordham Fiasco that will be held in the Bronx at Van Cortlandt Park, starting at 1:30 a.m.
