GLASSBORO, NJ – The Ramapo College men’s soccer team had a 3-0 victory over Berkeley College (NY) on the second day of the Rowan Invitational Tournament on Saturday evening.
The Roadrunners improve to 2-0, while the Knights have a 0-2 record. Later on Saturday, host Rowan University plays Ithaca College at 7 p.m. On Friday night, Rowan defeated Berkeley, 3-0 while Ramapo had a 4-2 win over Ithaca.
Forward Rob Santaniello (jr. Oakland, NJ/Ramapo) led the way with three goals. He scored six goals over the course of the two day tournament. Midfielders Jonathan Yazo (jr. Cliffside Park, NJ/Cliffside Park) and Joseph Kane (jr. Delran, NJ/Delran) and forward Jaivon Palmer (jr. Englewood, NJ/Dwight Morrow) all had one assist.
Ramapo took 17 shots and Berkeley had six. Roadrunners’ goalkeeper Steve Monaghan (so. Middletown, NJ/Middletown S.) made two saves for his first shutout of the year. Goalkeeper Camilo Montes stopped five shots in the Knights’ net.
Santaniello converted a penalty kick at 22:31 in the first period. He added his second goal 2:15 later. Palmer and Kane both earned an assist. At 64:50 in the second half, Yazo passed the ball into the box and Santaniello kicked it in.
Ramapo back Chris Freeman (so. Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains), Yazo, Santaniello and Kane, along with Montes were chosen to the All-Tournament Team.
