ONEONTA, NY – The Rowan University men’s and women’s cross country teams competed at the Oneonta State Airfield Invitational on Friday. The Prof women finished third out of 20 teams while the men came in eighth among 19 schools.
The invitational course was at Fortin Park. Oneonta State is the host for the 2010 NCAA Atlantic Regional Championships on Saturday, November 13.
Jenn Rawls (so. Runnemede, NJ/Highland Reg.) took fifth place out of 246 runners. She ran 22:07.4 on the 6K course. Jena Peacock (jr. Williamstown, NJ/Our Lady of Mercy Academy) was eighth (22:28.0) and Gabby Prendergast (fr. Blackwood, NJ/Highland Reg.) came in 19th (23:02.4). Rounding out the scoring were Meghan Borz (fr. Buena, NJ/Buena Reg.) and Joy Hanke (so. Cranford, NJ/Cranford) who finished 44th (23:33.9) and 69th (23:59.0) respectively.
Stephen Mennitt (so. Edison, NJ/Edison) crossed the finish line in 25:53.7 for 17th place in the men’s 8K race of 288 competitors. Eric DuBois (jr. Pittsgrove, NJ/A.P. Schalick) was 34th (26:09.9) and Jeff Terebey (sr. Shamong, NJ/Seneca) took 47th (26:23.9). Jake McCormack (jr. Cliffwood, NJ/Matawan Reg.) came in 89th (26:53.7) and Michael Carotenuto (so. Port Monmouth, NJ/Middletown N.) was 95th (26:58.2).
The Rowan cross country teams have a break next weekend and return to action on Friday, October 1 at the Lehigh University Paul Short Run.
