POMONA, NJ – The Rowan University men’s and women’s cross country teams both took second place at the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championships on Saturday. Jena Peacock won the women’s individual title for the second straight year. The conference championships were held at Richard Stockton College.
Peacock (jr. Williamstown, NJ/Our Lady of Mercy Academy) had a winning time of 21:17.16 over the 6K course. She was named the NJAC Runner of the Year for the second straight season. Jenn Rawls (so. Runnemede, NJ/Highland Reg.) finished second in 21:53.32. Joy Hanke (so. Cranford, NJ/Cranford) came in 12th (23:31.86) followed by Alli Catenacci (sr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) and Meghan Borz (fr. Buena, NJ/Buena Reg.) who were 13th (23:41.46) and 14th (23:42.79) respectively. Grace Kaler (fr. Parsippany, NJ/Parsippany Hills) had a 16th place (23:52.46) and Danielle Czohla (jr. Lafayette, NJ/High Point Reg.) was 18th (24:01.33).
For the men’s team, Eric DuBois (jr. Pittsgrove, NJ/A.P. Schalick) finished second in 25:40.37 in the 8K race. Jeff Terebey (sr. Shamong, NJ/Seneca) took fifth place with a time of 25:59.52. Stephen Mennitt (so. Edison, NJ/Edison) and Jake McCormack (jr. Cliffwood, NJ/Matawan Reg.) were ninth (26:10.82) and 10th (26:17.65) respectively. Mike Carotenuto (so. Port Monmouth, NJ/Middletown N.) rounded out the scoring in 14th place (26:39.22). Brian Quilty (sr. Brick, NJ/Saint Rose) came in 20th (26:48.62) and Stephen Hoffman (jr. Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City) was 22nd (26:51.14).
The Profs have a week off before they travel to Oneonta, NY for the NCAA Atlantic Regional on Saturday, November 13. The men’s race starts at 11 a.m. and the women follow at noon.
