GLASSBORO, NJ – Midfielder Phil Mora scored the winning goal for Rowan University in a 2-1 win over New York City College of Technology in the second game of the Rowan Invitational on Friday night.

Mora (so. Glassboro, NJ/Glassboro) headed in the game winner at 78:09. Midfielder John Loiodice (jr. Brick, NJ/Brick Mem.) crossed the ball to Mora after a header by forward Julian Berrios (fr. Lakewood, NJ/Calvary Academy).

In the first game, Elizabethtown College won 3-2 over Medgar Evers College. On Saturday, Elizabethtown (2-0) plays New York City College of Technology (0-1) at 5:30 p.m. and Medgar Evers (1-1) faces Rowan (2-0) at 7:30 p.m.

Rowan trailed 1-0 after forward David Freire (sr. Queens, NY/John Adams) knocked in a rebound at 11:09. Forward Mike Pascale (sr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River S.) scored the tying goal at 38:32 with Mora and midfielder Ryan Gordon (fr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill W.) each getting an assist.

The Profs totaled 19 shots and the Yellow Jackets took seven. Rowan goalie Charlie Cunliffe (jr. Lakewood, NJ/Lakewood) had three saves. For City Tech, goalkeeper Nelson Restrepo (fr. Queens, NY/Aviation) made three saves in 60 minutes. Ariel Mejia (so. Queens, NY/John Bowne) played the remainder of the game and stopped one shot.
