GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University men’s soccer team defeated nonconference opponent Wilkes University, 2-0 on Wednesday night.

Forwards Petter Lunde (fr. Asker, Norway/Asker VGS) and Dan Coviello (jr. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) each scored one goal. Lunde also had an assist along with midfielder John Loiodice (jr. Brick, NJ/Brick Mem.).

Rowan has an 8-4-1 record and Wilkes drops to 5-6 on the season. Goalkeeper Charlie Cunliffe (jr. Lakewood, NJ/Lakewood) stopped four shots for his fifth shutout. In the Colonels’ net, goalie Kaleb Smith (jr. Beavertown, PA/Medd-West) made one save. Rowan out shot Wilkes, 18-8.

Both goals came in the first half. Lunde hit the lower right corner of the net at 11:07 with a feed from Loiodice who brought the ball up the right side of the field. It was Lunde’s sixth goal on the year. Coviello chipped in a pass from Lunde at 28:45.

Next, Rowan travels to William Paterson University on Saturday, October 10 for a 1 p.m. conference game.
