Watson Earns Second Team All-American in 50 Free on First Day of NCAA Swimming Championships

GREENSBORO, NC -- On the first day of competition at the Division III Swimming and Diving Championships, Rowan was in action in three preliminary events with a qualifier for the finals.

The top 16 finishers in each preliminary event qualify for the finals later on Wednesday evening.

Jack Watson was one of those finalists, placing 16th in the 50 free preliminaries in a time of 20.27. He finished 12th in the finals to earn All American Honorable Mention with a season-best time of 20.09.
 
The men's 200 medley relay of Watson, Alex Volin, Paul Riter, and Justin Goglia timed in at a 1:32.75 but were disqualified due to an early take off on one of the relays.

In the men's 500 free, Tobias Cahnbley was 18th in the prelims (4:29.98).

On the women's side, Ella Pennington swam in the 200 IM prelims, clocking in at 2:10.22, to finish 49th.

Action continues tomorrow as the men's 200 Free Relay and 400 Medley Relay will hit the pool in the preliminaries.
