Nyla Jones took home weekly awards from the New Jersey Athletic Conference for the week ending April 12th.
Bogart receives the first weekly honor of his career as the NJAC Baseball Offensive Player of the Week. He batted a team-best .611 (11-for-18) with 10 runs, two doubles and six runs as the #6 Profs went 5-0. The second baseman went 3-for-4 with a run and two RBI in the 11-8 win at Rutgers-Camden, hitting an RBI double in the ninth inning as Rowan scored three runs to secure the win. In the 29-11 win over Rutgers-Camden, which set the school record for runs, Bogart went 4-for-6 with three runs and three RBI. Bogart went 3-for-3 and scored four runs in game two against Rutgers-Newark as Rowan completed the sweep with a 24-3 victory on Saturday.
Dobkin was awarded the NJAC Softball Rookie of the Week for the first time as she batted .571 (8-for-14) with six RBI, five runs, two doubles, and a home run in a 4-0 NJAC week. In game one at NJCU on Saturday, the freshmen went 4-for-4 with 5 RBI, three runs and a home run. In game two, she was 2-for-3 with two doubles, two runs, and an RBI. Dobkin also threw two scoreless innings in relief in that game two at NJCU.
Corson earns her third NJAC Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week award of the season. With her five-goal effort in Saturday's 21-0 win at Ramapo, the senior became Rowan's all-time leader in goals scored when she surpassed the mark of 250 (held by Becca Wood from 2012-15). In Rowan's 2-0 week, she totaled 11 goals and three assists as the Profs extended their winning streak to eight games. Corson scored six goals in the 16-9 win over Stockton in the team's NJAC opener. Corson leads the conference in scoring with 61 goals and 14 assists.Â
At the 11th-annual Oscar Moore Invitational at home on Saturday, both the men's and women's track & field teams turned in some head-turning performances.
Nkrumah was named the NJAC Men's Track & Field Track Athlete of the Week for the first time this year and third time in his career. The senior, along with
Jason Agyemang, ran identical 13.72 times in the 110 meter hurdles. The time stands as the top Division III time this season and the #2 Division III all-time mark.
Wampole and Brown highlighted the Profs in the high jump. Wampole earned NJAC Men's Track & Field Field Athlete of the Week and Brown scored the NJAC Rookie of the Week respectively as the duo each cleared seven feet (2.14 meters) in the event, as well as setting personal best marks and the #2 result in Division III.
Jones paced the women's squad as the freshman was awarded the NJAC Women's Track & Field Rookie of the Week. Jones ran 12.69 in the 100 meters and was the first leg in the 4x100 relay (48.06) as well as a 5.52 meter effort in the long jump. Her time in the 100 meters is the top time in the NJAC for a freshman.
The #6 Prof Baseball squad will host Haverford on Wednesday, TCNJ on Thursday, and visit TCNJ on Friday before hosting Kean on Saturday for a doubleheader.
#23 Softball (23-7, 8-2 NJAC) plays Tuesday at Rutgers-Camden, Thursday at home against John Jay, and Saturday vs. William Paterson for the team's Senior Day.
#16 Women's Lacrosse (11-2, 2-0 NJAC) will resume action on Saturday when it hosts Kean on Senior Day.Â
Both track teams will see action this weekend at Widener's Paul Donohue Invitational. Select members of the men's team will head to the University of Virginia Challenge with select women's members traveling to the North Carolina A&T Aggie Invitational.
