Corkhill, Clevenger, Hester, Ross, and Jones Take Home Weekly Honors by the NJAC

PITMAN, NJ -- Leah Corkhill, Nyla Jones, Seth Clevenger, Damitrius Hester, and Chris Ross were all honored by the New Jersey Athletic Conference in its weekly awards for the week ending April 5th.

Corkhill was named the NJAC Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career as she helped Profs to two victories while extending the team's winning streak to six games. The senior defender played a key role in the 14-12 win over #22 Christopher Newport, as she recorded three caused turnovers and two ground balls. Late in the game, Corkhill took over and guarded CNU's top scorer, holding her to just one goal. Earlier in the week, Corkhill had two ground balls and two caused turnovers in the Profs' 13-9 win over Catholic.

Jones captured the NJAC Women's Track & Field Track Athlete of the Week as the sophomore posted the #1 NJAC time in the 100 meter hurdles (14.38) and set a personal record in the 200 meters (24.67) which is #2 in the NJAC at the Embry Riddle Running Elements Classic. Jones also ran the first leg of the 4x400 relay, where the time of 3:57.91 puts the foursome at #2 in the NJAC.

Clevenger claimed the NJAC Men's Track & Field Track Athlete of the Week as he was one two Profs to break a school record last weekend. At Princeton's Sam Howell Invitational, the junior ran a 29:06.90 in the 10,000 meters, breaking 45-year old school record, and recording the top #1 D3 Time in the event.

Hester added that second school record of the weekend as the junior was selected the NJAC Men's Track & Field Field Athlete of the Week. Hester topped out at 73.29 meters in the javelin at the Embry Riddle Running Elements Classic, giving him the #1 Division III result and the #4 all-time D3 effort. Hester broke his own school record set two weeks ago at the Stockton Invitational.

Ross made his outdoor debut in the long jump, registering a 7.34 meter effort to win the NJAC Men's Track & Field Rookie of the Week. The mark currently sits at #3 in DIII.

Women's lacrosse (9-2), now #16 in the IWLCA Coaches Poll, opens the conference schedule on Wednesday as it hosts Stockton. The Profs continue play this Saturday with a visit to Ramapo.

Both the men's and women's track and field teams will be at home this weekend in the 11th annual Oscar Moore Invitational held at Wackar Stadium and at West Campus, along with Senior Day festivities.
