PITMAN, NJ -- The New Jersey Athletic Conference announced accolades for
Austin Kreyenhagen,
Brett Chiesa,
Ava Fisher, and
Jamile Gantt in its weekly awards program for the week ending April 27th.
Kreyenhagen was named the NJAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the first time in his career. He tossed a four-hit complete game shutout to lead the #5 Profs over William Paterson, 1-0, in Game 1 of the doubleheader on Saturday, which clinched Rowan's first NJAC regular-season title since 2023. The sophomore righthander struck out three and walked three while throwing 110 pitches, to mark his first complete game the season, and the third of his career. The sophomore owns a 5-1 record this year while leading the starters with a 2.86 ERA in 50.1 innings pitched. He has 32 strikeouts on the year and is holding the opponents to a .204 batting average.Â
Chiesa was chosen as the NJAC Baseball Rookie of the Week as he batted .500 (10-20) with six runs, three doubles and five RBI as the starting third baseman in the Profs' five victories. He went 2-for-3 with a run and double in 14-4 win over Immaculata and was 3-for-5 with three runs, two RBI and a double in the 22-5 decision over New Jersey City. Chiesa was a combined 4-for-8 in the doubleheader at William Paterson. He scored the winning run in the 1-0 first-game victory and had two of the Profs' six hits. In the 8-6 Game 2 win, Chiesa hit an RBI double to break a 4-4 tie and then scored the run to give Rowan a 6-4 lead, as the Profs would go on to win, 8-6, in 10 innings.Â
Fisher earned NJAC Softball Player of the Week honors for the first time this year. The sophomore went 10-fo-14 (.714) with six RBI's, five runs, two doubles, two walks, and a home run in a 4-0 week, while adding a 1.821 OPS (1.071 slugging + .750 on-base percentage). Against Rutgers-Newark on Tuesday, she went a combined 5-for-6 with four runs and three RBI's. In game two she went 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI's. On Monday at Ramapo, she was 3-for-5 with three RBI's and her NJAC leading seventh HR on the year in game two of the DH sweep. Fisher leads the team in RBI's (36) and leads the NJAC with seven home runs with a .385 batting average in 36 games. Kim Wilson etched her 1,000th coaching victory at Rowan in the process.
Gantt was selected the NJAC Men's Track & Field Field Athletic of the Week for the first time this season as the Profs have been awarded the honor all six times this year. Gantt competed at The Penn Relays where the junior placed third in the high jump, tying a season-best mark of 2.06 meters. The mark currently sits Gantt at #9 in Division III.
Both the baseball and softball teams begin their respective postseason journey this week in the NJAC Tournament on Thursday. Fifth-ranked baseball (29-5) will host a semifinal game against either Ramapo or Rutgers-Camden at 3 p.m. while #17 softball (33-7) also will play in a semifinal game at home against the winner of Kean and Ramapo also at 3 p.m. The championship series for both sports starts on Saturday, May 2nd in a best-of-three games format.
Top-ranked men's track & field has the NJAC Outdoor Championships taking place this weekend at Ramapo. The two-day event begins on Saturday with the Profs eyeing its 11th-straight conference title.
