Kwaku Nkrumah all earned honors from the New Jersey Athletic Conference in its weekly awards for Monday, February 27th.
Ross scored the NJAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the first time this season, and the third time in his career. The junior guard averaged 23.0 points and 3.5 rebounds in two games of the NJAC Championship as the Profs captured their first title since 2019. He scored 22 points, making 5-of-10 three-point field goals, in the 96-83 NJAC Semifinal win over TCNJ on Tuesday. Ross followed that with a game-high 24 points in the 103-86 victory over Stockton in the NJAC Final as he connected on a season-high seven three-pointers (in 11 attempts). He also recorded his 1,000th career point, counting the points (83) that he posted in two years at Caldwell University, as his career total now stands at exactly 1,000. Ross was on target from beyond the arc as he hit on 12-for-21 from 3-point range in the two games.
For the first time this year, Adams was selected the NJAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week as the forward averaged 17 points and 9.5 rebounds in two playoff wins last week. In the NJAC Championship game at NJCU Saturday night, Adams notched a double double, going for 15 points and 11 rebounds to help the Profs to its eighth conference title in program history. In Wednesday's semifinal victory at Kean, Adams registered a season-high 19 points and added eight rebounds, three assists, and two steals in the 68-58 win.
Beasley (Track), Agyemang (Field) and Nkrumah (Rookie) swept the NJAC Men's Indoor Track & Field accolades.
Beasley ran an indoor PR in the 200 meters on Sunday at the Boston University Last Chance, as his time of 21.58 ranks him 14th in Division III.
Agyemang took home the long jump title at the NJAC Championships last Monday, hitting a top 10 NCAA mark in the process (7.26 meters).
Nkrumah hit season bests in the 60 meter hurdles and the high jump last week. On Monday at the NJAC Championships, he was third in the high jump (1.91 meters) and then on Sunday at the BU Last Chance, he clocked in for a #22 DIII mark in the 60 meter hurdles (8.18).
Both the men's and women's basketball teams have secured bids to the NCAA Tournament and will have action this weekend. On Friday, the women travel to the University of Scranton to take on Rhode Island College in a first-round matchup. The men will host the first and second rounds here at Esbjornson Gymnasium where the Profs take on Cal Lutheran while Utica battles Babson on Friday with the winners meeting in the second round on Saturday evening. The men's indoor track and field team heads to the New York City Armory this weekend for the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) Championships that also begins Friday.
