PITMAN, NJ -- Charlotte Carlies and Ella Pennington earned honors from the New Jersey Athletic Conference in its weekly awards for the week ending November 23rd.

Carlies was named the NJAC Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week while Pennington scored the NJAC Women's Swimmer of the Week.

This is the first time this season Carlies has been honored. The senior helped anchor a defensive effort that held DeSales to 38 points (averaging 69 ppg) and Washington College to 53 points during a 2-0 week. She totaled 21 rebounds (15 defensive) and eight blocks across the two games, collecting six blocks and 11 rebounds against DeSales before adding 10 rebounds and two blocks versus Washington College. Carlies currently leads the NJAC in rebounding (10.0 rpg) and is second in blocks (2.8 bpg) while averaging 7.0 points in four games.

Pennington scores her third top honor this season after turning in quite the performance at this weekend's Franklin & Marshall Invitational. The senior produced five NCAA 'B' cut times while breaking two school records and tying another, as Rowan placed fourth overall in the three-day meet. She recorded 'B' cuts in the 200 backstroke (1:59.84), 100 fly (53.87, school record), 100 backstroke twice—individually (54.51, tying her own school record) and as the leadoff of the third-place 400 medley relay (55.21, 3:53.98)—and 200 IM (2:03.14, school record). Her 100 back and 100 fly times are the fastest in NCAA Division III this season, while her 200 back and 200 IM rank second nationally.

The women's basketball team (3-1) opens NJAC play on Tuesday with a game at Montclair State in the team's only action of the week.

Women's Swimming (2-2) returns to the pool on Friday, December 5th as Rowan takes on #16 Swarthmore.
