PISCATAWAY, NJ -- The 2023 Metropolitan Conference Championship (METS) carried on into Friday after a great start to the championships Thursday afternoon. After two days of competition, the men's team remains in third place (431 points) while the women sit in second (376.5 points) The meet continues on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 18 and 19 at Rutgers University.

500 Free
Emma Padros hit a sixth-place finish in the 500 freestyle prelims (5.15.93) headlined seven different Profs to make it to the finals. Padros took third in the finals (5:13.83) with
Jillian Walls (5:17.03) and
Trisha Lau (5:17.87) seventh and eighth, respectively, additionally in the finals.
Tobias Cahnbley highlighted the preliminaries winning in 4:29.00, an NCAA B Cut time and breaking his own school record in the process, and
Alex Volin captured fifth, finishing in 4:38.79.
Justin Goglia (4:42:11),
Nico Andrianto (4:47:09), and
Robert Gagnon (4:47:68) also qualified in the preliminary round. Cahbley would finish runner-up in the finals (4:30.35).

200 IM
Ella Pennington took home second place in the 200 IM and qualified for the final (2:06.88), as did
Bella Stefanowicz (2:13.08),
Natalina Baldinazzo (2:18.12), and
Alexis Kidchob (2:18.55). In the finals, Pennington swam her second-fastest time of the season (2:06.18) where she was second. Stefanowicz was fifth (2:11.17).
Joe Rucci broke his own school record, finishing in 1:51:30, resulting in a second place and
Michael Fracchiolla placed fourth with a time of 1:53:16. Rowan had three other qualifying swimmers in the event;
Rocco Evangelista (1:55:26),
Kevin Yanagisawa (1:58:06), and TJ Moderski (1:58:80). Rucci hit an NCAA B Cut in the finals (1:51.07), where he was second.

Jordan McChesney finished in fourth (24.33) and qualified for the 50 freestyle final, along with
Laura Jones (24.91) and
Elizabeth Jones (25.41). McChesney hit a season-best time of 24.17 in the finals, placing fourth overall.
Jack Watson clocked 20:44 in the finals, to hit another NCAA B Cut.
Paul Riter (21:35), and Matt Degennaro (21.44) finished in the top ten in the event. Rowan added three other qualifiers in the event with
Jimmy Kundrats (21.94),
Gavin Luong (21.96), and
Kristian Werner (22.28).

Elizabeth Jones, Pennington, and McChesney was fourth in the finals (1:38.98)
