Men's and Women's Swimming METS Championships Day 1 Recap

Men's 800 free relay sets school record; Women's 800 free relay finishes first

PISCATAWAY, NJ -- The Rowan Men's and Women's Swimming Teams got off to a great start on the first day of the 2023 Metropolitan Championships (METS) on Thursday held at Rutgers University as both 800 free relay teams were in action.

On the men's side, the Profs broke the school record with a new best time of 6:39.97, which is an NCAA B cut result. The grouping of Tobias Cahnbley, Justin Goglia, Alex Volin, and Jack Watson broke the previous time of 6:43.77 set at the METS back in 2020.

The women's foursome of Emma Padros, Elizabeth Jones, Lindsay Cave, and Jordan McChesney finished first in a season-best time of 7:47.84. These were the only Prof teams in action on the day.

Action continues on Friday with the first of three sessions beginning at 9:30 a.m. Live results as well as video are available.
