Women's Lacrosse Announces 2019 Schedule

2019 Women's Lacrosse Schedule

GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women's lacrosse team announced its 2019 schedule on Thursday.

The Profs have a 16-game schedule that includes nine home contests and five away.  They also have two games in Englewood, FL during Spring Break.  Last year, the women's lacrosse team finished with a 14-4 record and they received an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.  Rowan finished second in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC).

"Our 2019 schedule has been created to ensure that we are playing some of the best teams in the country," stated head coach Lindsay Delaney. "The team will need to rise to the challenges and compete for a conference championship and a run in the NCAA Tournament."

"We are excited to have three new programs on our schedule this year, two on Spring Break (Clarkson and Denison) and one at home (St. Mary's), as well as a good mix of reciprocal games," continued Delaney.  "I am excited to see this team grow from the beginning of the year to the end against the talented teams on the schedule."

Rowan starts the season at home against Ursinus College on Wednesday, Feb. 27.  The Profs travel to Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday, March 2.  The Ducks were 14-6 last year and played in the NCAA postseason.

The women's lacrosse team has two straight home games versus Salisbury University on Wednesday, March 6 and St. Mary's College (MD) on Wednesday, March 13.  The Sea Gulls produced a 21-2 mark and won the 2018 Capital Athletic Conference Championship.  They advanced to the semifinals of the NCAA Championship Tournament.

"The team has been ready to go since the end of last season," said Delaney.  "The upperclassmen are united in their vision, work ethic and standards and the underclassmen have been a great addition. This group is led by seniors Taylor Gretz, Maddie Bray and Liz Kramer who bring a fire, intensity and an ability to finish to the team. The squad is led by 14 seniors and juniors that work hard off the field, in the classroom and around the community.  The women's lacrosse team is excited to get back on the field, have fun and play hard."

The Profs travel to Englewood, FL for Spring Break.  They will face Clarkson University on Wednesday, March 20 and Denison University on Friday, March 22.  In 2018, Denison had a 17-3 record, won the North Coast Athletic Conference title and made it to the NCAA regional semifinals.

Rowan is on the road at Neumann University on Wednesday, March 27. The women's lacrosse team then has four consecutive games at Wackar Stadium.  The Profs play Cabrini University on Saturday, March 30 and the University of Scranton on Tuesday, April 2.  The Cavaliers (12-8) were the Colonial State Athletic Conference Champions and they were in the NCAA postseason.

Rowan has its first New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game on Saturday, April 6 against Kean University.  The Cougars were 14-4 last year and qualified for the NJAC Tournament. Rowan hosts conference opponent Stockton University on Tuesday, April 9.

"This season, I expect the program to have grown from the experiences we had in 2018," commented Delaney.  "Our leadership is strong, our work ethic is strong and now we need to figure out how to play gritty and consistent for the entire game.  The freshmen had a great fall and can add a ton of depth to our lineup.  I expect this group to have a lot of fun, score a lot of goals and control the game through smart ball handling and team defense.  Our defensive unit will need to create a bond that will allow them to get tested and bounce back quickly together. "Together" being the main focus of our units."

The Profs are on the road at Ramapo College on Saturday, April 13. The women's lacrosse team is home versus The College of New Jersey on Tuesday, April 16.  TCNJ (20-3) is the defending NJAC Champion.  The Lions advanced to the semifinals of the national tournament.

Rowan has away games at Montclair State University on Saturday, April 20 and Rutgers-Camden on Tuesday, April 23.  The Profs end the regular season in Glassboro against Catholic University on Thursday, April 25.  The Cardinals (15-7) won the Landmark Championship and reached the NCAA regional semifinals.

The NJAC Championship Tournament starts with the semifinals on Wednesday, May 1 and the final is on Saturday, May 4.  The NCAA Championship Tournament begins on Saturday, May 11.
