Box Score JERSEY CITY, NJ – New Jersey City University erased a four-run deficit and walked off with a 5-4 victory over visiting Rowan University on Thursday.
The Profs are 25-12 overall and 9-6 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC). The Gothic Knights even their record to 16-16 and they have a 5-10 NJAC mark.
The game was tied at four entering the bottom of the ninth. Second baseman Jeff Reinecke (sr. Middlesex, NJ/Middlesex) doubled with one out. Catcher CJ Pulcine (sr. Hazlet, NJ/Raritan) had an infield single and there were runners at first and third. After an intentional walk that loaded the bases and a strikeout, pinch hitter Steven Ramos (fr. Perth Amboy, NJ/Perth Amboy) sent a 2-1 pitch to center field and Reinecke scored the winning run.
Third baseman Taylor Born (sr. South Plainfield, NJ/South Plainfield), first baseman Dan Berardi (jr. Bridgewater, NJ/Middlesex), left fielder Bill Feehan (fr. Point Pleasant, NJ/Point Pleasant Boro) and Pulcine each produced two hits. Right fielder Joe Coutinho (sr. Colonia, NJ/Colonia) and Feehan knocked in two runs apiece. Center fielder Nick Ruscingno (sr. Teaneck, NJ/Teaneck), shortstop Nick LoGatto (so. Helmetta, NJ/Spotswood) and pinch runner Joe Papamarkos (fr. Lyndhurst, NJ/Paramus Catholic) all scored one time.

Frankie Aiello (fr. Wyckoff, NJ/Ramapo) tallied two hits (four at bats), a double and two runs. Second baseman
Alex Kokos (fr. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) recorded a triple and one RBI and scored twice. First baseman
Joe Sadler (jr. Holmdel, NJ/Holmdel) drove in two runs.
Right-hander Jose Ortiz (so. Perth Amboy, NJ/Perth Amboy) earned the win. He (4-0) tossed the final inning. Righty
Rob Grilli (sr. Middletown, NJ/Middletown S.) suffered the loss (4-2).
Rowan opened the scoring in the first. Sadler hit a two-out single to center and Kokos came home. The Profs added two in the third. Aiello led off with a base hit then scored on a triple by Kokos. Sadler's sacrifice fly plated Kokos. Rowan tacked on another run in the fifth. Aiello began the frame with a ground-rule double and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Clapper followed with a double to right center and Aiello touched home.
The Gothic Knights broke through for two runs in the seventh. The first three batters reached base then Coutinho sent a one-out single down the left field line to score two runs. NJCU tied the contest with two runs in the eighth. Feehan had a base hit up the middle and Papamarkos and LoGatto came around to score.
The two teams square off again in Glassboro on Friday, April 28 at 3:30 p.m.
