Box Score 2 MAHWAH, NJ – The Rowan University baseball team had a 6-4 loss in the first game of a doubleheader at Ramapo College on Saturday. The Profs came back and recorded an 8-0 shutout in the nightcap.
It was the final doubleheader of the regular season. The Profs are 23-16 overall while the Roadrunners are 29-9-1 on the season. Both teams finished 11-7 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championship Tournament. Rowan, the fourth seed, will play at the third seed Ramapo on Tuesday, May 3 in the first round of the NJAC tournament at 3:30 p.m.
Right-hander C.J. Growney (fr. Avenel, NJ/Colonia) pitched a complete game for the win in game one. He scattered seven hits and gave up four earned runs. Righty
Johnny Dunn (sr. Pitman, NJ/Pitman) took the loss. He (4-3) went four innings.
For Ramapo, designated hitter Scott Paulus (sr. Washington, NJ/Warren Hills) and shortstop Bobby Shannon (so. Mount Olive, NJ/Mount Olive) each contributed with two hits, one RBI and one run. Left fielder Matthew Chemis (so. Sparta, NJ/Sparta) and third baseman Austin Unglaub (so. Bayonne, NJ/Bayonne) tallied two hits and one run apiece. Right fielder Rob DeAngelis (jr. Staten Island, NY/Monsignor Farrell) chipped in with two hits and one RBI.
Rowan center fielder Brett Phillips (sr. Audubon, NJ/Audubon) was two for four with a triple and two RBIs. First baseman
Steven Todd (sr. Millstone Twp., NJ/Allentown) registered one hit, two RBIs and one run. Shortstop

Evan Hughes (sr. Wilmington, DE/Alexis I. duPont) had one hit and one run apiece.
The Roadrunners led 1-0 after Chemis scored on an error in the first inning. The Profs went ahead 4-1 in the top of the fourth. Todd drove in two runs with a single to center field. Phillips knocked in Hughes and Todd with a base hit through the right side. Ramapo went ahead with five runs in the bottom half.
In the second game, right-hander
Dylan Johannink (sr. Medford Lakes, NJ/Shawnee) threw 7.0 innings for the win. He (2-1) only allowed two hits and struck out five batters. Left-hander
Conner Walsh (so. Magnolia, NJ/Sterling) was on the mound for the final two innings. Righty Eli Garcia (jr. Trenton, NJ) had the loss.
Designated hitter
Monny Strickland (so. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) was three for three with a double, one RBI and one run. Hughes produced three hits, one double, two RBIs and one run. Todd totaled one hit, one RBI and one run. Left fielder

Rowan got on the scoreboard with three runs in the second inning. Strickland scored on an error. Todd singled in Hughes and catcher
Steven Hewa (fr. Galloway, NJ/Absegami) came home due to an error. The Profs added two more runs in the fifth and one in the sixth. Jolly singled through the right side, scoring Phillips and Hughes recorded a sacrifice fly. Brown plated Todd in the sixth with a base hit to left center. Rowan tacked on two more runs in the ninth inning. Strickland registered a two RBI double and Hughes singled in one run.
