Box Score ASHLAND, VA – The Randolph-Macon College baseball team won 7-2 over Rowan University on Saturday afternoon.
The Yellow Jackets are undefeated with a 7-0 record while it was the season opener for the Profs. Left-hander James Walsh was the winning pitcher. He (3-0) threw seven innings and gave up four hits and two earned runs. Walsh struck out eight batters. Right-hander
Steve Priolo (jr. Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Reg.) took the loss.
Left fielder Cole Migliorini was three for four with two RBIs and two runs scored. He produced two doubles and one home run. Designated hitter Travis Lodge contributed with three RBIs, two runs and one home run. Right fielder Rick Spiers had two hits in four at bats and one RBI. Shortstop Jeffrey Butler scored two runs and had one double.
For Rowan, center fielder
Bret Phillips (sr. Audubon, NJ/Audubon) registered three hits in four trips to the plate and he scored one run. Catcher
Greg Myers (sr. Westmont, NJ/Haddon Twp.) had two hits (three at bats) and one run.
Randolph-Macon got on the scoreboard first with two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Butler scored on a fielder's choice and Migliorini doubled in one run. Rowan scored in the top of the third. With one out, Myers recorded a triple to center field. He came home on a ground out by left fielder

The Yellow Jackets led 6-1 after four runs in the fifth inning. Second baseman Jordan Schmeer knocked in one run with a base hit. Lodge blasted a two-run homer and Migliorini followed with a solo shot to right field. Phillips led off the seventh with a double to left center field and he advanced to third on an error. Steven Todd (sr. Millstone Twp., NJ/Allentown) reached base on a fielder's choice, scoring Phillips. Randolph-Macon added one more run in the bottom half. With two outs, Migliorini doubled to left field and he crossed the plate on Spiers' single.
Rowan plays Randolph-Macon again on Sunday, Feb. 27 in a doubleheader at 11:30 a.m. The doubleheader will be two nine-inning games.
