NJAC Championship Tournament BracketGLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University baseball team is seeded fourth in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championship Tournament. The Profs travel to the third seed Ramapo College in the first round on Tuesday, April 28 at 3:30 p.m.
Rowan is 23-12 overall and Ramapo has a 24-12 record. In the other first round games, the sixth seed The College of New Jersey (16-16) travels to the top seed Rutgers-Camden (20-14) and the fifth seed Montclair State University (17-16) plays at the second seed Kean University (28-10).
The remainder of the double elimination tournament continues Friday-Sunday, May 1-3 at Kean. The NJAC champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. Ticket prices for all rounds are $5 for adults and $2 for students, senior citizens and children.
Rowan is the two-time defending champion and is making its 13th straight appearance in the NJAC Championship Tournament. The Profs have won 16 conference championships (2014, 2013, 2005, 2004, 2003, 1999, 1979, 1978, 1977, 1973, 1971, 1970, 1968, 1967, 1965 and 1958). Last year, Rowan defeated TCNJ, 7-6 in the first round. In the second game, the Profs won over Kean, 8-2. They advanced to the championship game with an 8-3 victory over Rutgers-Camden in the third round. Rowan had a 7-5 win against Montclair State to claim the NJAC Championship.
During the regular season, Rowan won both games against TCNJ, 12-4 in Ewing and 6-4 at home. The Profs swept a twin bill at Montclair State, 5-1 and 5-2. Rowan lost at Rutgers-Camden, 4-2 but was victorious at home, 6-5. Kean won both games against the Profs, 1-0 in Glassboro and 10-5 in Union. Last Saturday, Rowan and Ramapo split a doubleheader. The Profs captured the opener, 5-1 and the Roadrunners bounced back to win the nightcap, 4-2.
Rutgers-Camden is vying for its first NJAC Championship. Montclair State has 16 titles and Kean has five. TCNJ has won the conference championship eight times and Ramapo, twice.
