Box Score AUBURNDALE, FL – The Rowan University baseball team earned a 13-1 victory over Gallaudet University on Wednesday at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational.
Right-hander Richie Suarez (sr. Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Reg.) (1-0) hurled eight innings of four-hit ball, allowing one unearned run. He struck out eight batters. Righty Ben Coleman (jr. St. Paris, OH/Graham) took the loss (0-1). The Profs are 5-4 overall and the Bison have a 0-9 mark.
Second baseman Evan Hughes (jr. Wilmington, DE/Alexis I. duPont) went three-for-five with a triple, one RBI and one run scored. Designated hitter Casey Grimes (sr. Gibbstown, NJ/Paulsboro) had two hits (three at bats) and drove in three runs. Center fielder Nick Kreiger (sr. Manalapan, NJ/Manalapan) was two-for-two with two RBIs and crossed the plate twice.
First baseman Steven Todd (jr. Millstone Twp., NJ/Allentown) recorded two hits and a double and knocked in two runs. He also scored one time. Third baseman Kevin McMenamin (sr. Maple Shade, NJ/Maple Shade) had a pair of hits, scored one time and batted in one. Shortstop Jason Clapper (so. Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape) registered two singles and came home twice.
Gallaudet first baseman Justin Strong (so. Charlotte, NC/East Mecklenburg) was two-for-four with a run scored. Right fielder Kyle Gumm (fr. Dallas, TX/North Mesquite) brought in a run.
